ingredients and steps for making story listening workshops

Making a Story Listening Workshop

Ingredients

As well as the workshop crew, the workshop basically involves having a sign, guidelines for story tellers, the drawing materials, and the story log sheets.

We've been running the workshop over the top of a simple information stall (see below), but it can be done without.

Steps

This is how we've been getting it together each time.

well in advance - Arrange attendance at event with event organisers. Invite workshop friends and decide workshop crew (use mailing list, facebook group). Purchase drawing materials.

near the time - Finalise entrance (door codes etc.) and communicate this to workshop crew. Check equipment (use ingredients as checklist). Plan journey. Pack equipment. Travel to event.

whilst there - Try to enjoy event. Have crew meeting to check everybody knows what the sketch is. Start workshop at arranged time in arranged place. Gently introduce the workshop to people passing by, ask them to tell a story. Carefully look after completed drawings. Rotate pairs of workshop crew for duration of event. Close down, pack up, clean up.

afterwards - Return home from event. Rest and recover. Repair, clean, and store equipment. Photograph stories, upload to photostream, enter logged story information, present best stories in the gallery.

Making a Basic Information Stall

Ingredients

The stall basically involves a table, some information sheets, friend sign-up sheets, and refreshments.

Steps

whilst there - Turn up early and pick a good spot. Put up and set the table with the cloth and lamps. Nicely arrange the flyers, leaflets, and sign-up sheets. Put the fruit in a tempting location on the table. Hide the cake, the biscuits and the booze.
